December 15: HAPPY 200th BIRTHDAY MONT VERNON!
Here is a schedule of the evening of the 15th that we have come up with so far. Events begin at the Village School Multi-Purpose Room (MPR). Fireworks will happen in the field behind the Post Office. This schedule may change slightly as we get closer and have some responses from dignitaries concerning their involvement.

6:30 Welcome, two songs and then serve begin serving the cake and mingling
7:00 Co-chairs speak
7:10 Presentations
7:25 Guest Speakers
7:45 End and bundle up to go watch the fireworks
8:00 or 8:15 fireworks begin

On December 15 we will be assembling a Tapestry Birthday cake therefor we need cakes. Please bring an 8 nch square cake that is only frosted on the top. It can be plain or fancy. If you can do some decorating on your piece of this tapestry cake that would make others think of your family that would add to the meaning of this Mont Vernon Tapestry Birthday cake. For example, we Fimbels could put on six Playmobile people since there are six of us. Or we could draw a garage door or maybe a can of Moxie. The Lyons might put an airplane since Chip is a pilot and Jay Wilson might put something about the fire department or maybe his 8-inch cake would be simply frosted in one color. Plain squares are also good in a quilt.

These individual cakes need to be brought to the MPR at the Village School between 3 and 5:30 p.m. on Monday December 15 so that they can be assembled into one large birthday cake for Mont Vernon. At 6:30 p.m. we will all come together at the school for the official 200th birthday celebration. This will include a few guest speakers, scrapbook pages and other memorabilia to look at of this years Bicentennial events, final thank yous from the Bicentennial Committee, and of course the birthday cake and hot drinks. But that's not all, then come the fireworks!!!! That's right, we have been working with the Atlas Fireworks people and will be ending our yearlong Bicentennial celebration with a fireworks display here in Mont Vernon. They will be set off from up behind the post office and should be visible from anywhere in Mont Vernon.

Please bring photos that you could donate for compiling a thorough keepsake of Mont Vernon's yearlong Bicentennial Celebration. These photos will be on display and then made into a scrapbook and donated to the Historical Society museum sometime in 2004.

Please come and be a part of this final Bicentennial event. For more information, contact Zoe Fimbel at 673-0733.
