Molten solder is then flowed onto all exposed copper. The solder coat all exposed copper protects it from oxidation. There is no solder under the mask to reflow during subsequent assembly steps.The result is a SMOBC panel ready for the finishing steps.

The final steps include adding printing to the board, routing out the finished board, inspection and packaging.
