Next a solder mask is applied and developed to expose only those parts of the board that will     have solder coating. There are a number of types of solder mask and solder mask processes.

    Photoimable masks use steps of application, exposure with a photo tool and developing for     precise location of the solder mask image. Screen printing is use to apply the solder with the     image developed on the silk screen. Silk screening is not as precise in image placement but the     epoxy is more resiliant.
