Welcome to my text and photo visit to the island of Curacao. This island is located between the islands of Aruba and Bonaire, being the "C" in the ABC islands of the Netherlands Antilles.

I've visited the island only for two days and never left the capitol so I don't have a complete picture (in text or words) to paint for you. The island doesn't have the beaches or night life of Aruba or the natural wonders such as close by coral reefs as Bonaire has. Hence, I only stayed over while making my connections to Bonaire.

The capitol is a fun place for a day trip for shopping and walking. The center has some good shops for local and Sound American crafts. There is a floating market where people come from South America to sell fruits and fish. The boats tie up along side a canal side street and sell their wares. Its fun and interesting to walk along and look at what's going on.

The hotel I stayed at was built inside a Spanish fort leftover from the days when the French, English and Spanish used to kill each other and trade possession of Caribbean islands about every twenty years. If they had any brains they would have just agreed to swap places without the killing and they would have accomplished the same without the body parts! Probably not much fun, I guess.

Anyway, the hotel is on a point at the entrance to the main harbor and is reported to be the only hotel with marine insurance in case a supertanker makes a wrong turn. There is an interesting floating pedestrian bridge across the harbor entrance that motors out of the way when a ship needs to pass.
