1997 Mount Lassen Star Party

An abundance of UFO's were noted as the keypoint at this star party! Here's a superb photo I captured, no doubt the hightlight of this expedition to Northern CA:

NASA and the Air Force have been contacted but the identity of this craft remains a mystery to them. Who says Amateur Astronomers can't make useful observations? Note that this alien craft has an opening in the center to make shooting them down very difficult. Their craft would make crazy wobbles as we watched over a ten minute period. Fascinating.

Although showing patriotic colors, we are not at all convinced that these Aliens are friendly!

Although the US Government cannot identify this, my son, on the other hand is quite sure that it is a photo of him twirling his night light. Approx. 2 Second exposure on ISO 400 film.

The evening started out perfect. The Crescent Moon followed quickly on the Sun's heels to give us a night of uninterrupted dark skies, the amateur astronomer's dream:
