Our Sun, Sol

The 1994 Solar Eclipse is seen at left, photographed by me off a cardboard projection screen. Never look directly into an eyepiece at the sun with a telescope!! It is very dangerous, and would cause premanent damage to your eye.

The Moon

The 1996 Lunar Eclipse is at left, captured on my 6" Newtonian reflector with a Sony 8mm videocamera. It was later digitized on computer. The original image was black and white, due to high light levels. It was colorized to reproduce how it actually looked. More Lunar Photos

The Planets

Mars

Simulated view of Mars through a 6" telescope. The original photo was from the Hubble Space Telescope. The view in my 6" on an excellent night is about 1/64th as detailed as that of the Hubble.

Jupiter

This is what Jupiter looks like in my 6" on a very good night. This is black and white, but in real life it has a redish yellow tint. Right now it is not well positioned in the sky. When it reappears, I will add more photos.

Saturn

Saturn made a grazing pass by the moon on November 11, 1997 seen from the Northeastern US. I originally just planned to enjoy observing, but my wife convinced me that we should take the opportunity to use my video camera. are the results.

Comets

Hale-Bopp Comet

I got a few Hale-Bopp photos through the telescope as well as those through my camera directly. These really don't do justice to the actual prints, but hopefully you will enjoy them as they are.
