Saturn
This color image was off a custom-made digital camera through a Questar
telescope by a friend of mine. Not bad for a 4" telescope. It was taken
Nov 11. 1997, during the occultation of Saturn by the moon in NorthEastern
US.
The images below of Saturn during the occultation were all taken using my 6" telescope and eyepiece projection to a video camera. The resulting images were then digitized (again!) from the camera to the computer in 16 bits resolution. A lot of detail is lost, but you can imagine how it looked through the eyepiece. These are the raw images. Stacking and other enhancement techniques remain to be tried.
