Secrets of Fabrication
The table is fixed on a temporary mounting, at an angle of 45 degrees (seen as the brighter wood with a vertical grain in the photo below). This is the underside of the platform. A drum sander is fitted to the drill press and the piece gradually and slowly rotated until it is perfectly round and smooth. The precision obtained by sanding in this manner allows better than 1 arc minute tracking.

Polyester polymerises quicly, is cheap, and works well, so it was used with the fiberglass instead of epoxy. It is layed all around the sector, which gives it extra strength and makes a good bearing surface.
