The left column contains the earliest known sources
(writers) for the different segments of the gospels
that we know today: who first wrote it, where and
when it was first written, and the likely function(s)
for writing it that way. This is the heart of
the book, and shows how each writer tried to advance
his agenda or defeat that of his rivals, through the
words and deeds of Jesus.

The right column contains the gospel as we know it
today in our modern bibles. This text has remained
virtually unchanged since 419AD, when the XXIV African
Canton closed the gospel texts to any further emendation
(at this convention the gospels were officially "canonized"
by the church, which by 419 was well-established as the
sole dominant viewpoint, with all opposing viewpoints
having been silenced either figuratively or literally).
But before 419, the new testament gospels were an ever-changing
battleground of different religious views, fought through the
ever-expanding sayings and deeds of Jesus.
